This wonderful western electric dial candlestick telephone is fully reconditioned and guaranteed to work. If you want a beautiful western electric desk phone, this is it! All of the pieces were disassembled, cleaned, polished, thoroughly tested, and then reassembled after the new finish was applied. It was made in the 1920s for the bell system and was upgrdaed by them to anti-sidetone thereafter. It is a model 151al.
The 151al with the capsule type transmitter and receiver like this one has, is the best sounding original western eletcric dial candlestick phone there is. It has patent dates of jan 26 15, jan 1 18, may 7 18 and sept 21 20 on the front of the base. The transmitter is the clear sounding 1930s capsule type that is referred to affectionately by collectors as a bull dog.

It is made of bakelite. The receiver is also made of bakelite and is a 706a capsule type. These are part of the upgades mdae to make this phone have great sound quality. This phnoe is not a reproduction!

It is the real thing. The only new parts are the nice brown cloth cords, the number card on the dial, and the quality brown felt on the bottom cover. It has a nice new professionaly applied baked on semi-gloss black finish like the original, not a glossy spray can job. The dial is a ew #4h that makes the wonderful clickity-clack sound when dialing.

It says western electric made in usa pat in usa aug 13 12 aug 24 15 des may 7 18 sept 13 21 on the front. This number 4h type dial was also put on this 151al candlestick phone when it was converted to anti-sidetone. The 634a anti-sidetone subset (black box) is also original with the same semi-gloss black baked on finish.
It contains the ringer, coil, and condenser. The subset can eb placed on the wall, or under the desk, table, or anything else that the phone sits on. As mentioned before, this phone is fully functioanl and ready to use. Just plug it into any standadr modular jack. To make a call, pick up the receiver, dial the number, and talk. To receive a call, pick up the receiver after hearing the old bell ring, and talk. This is a great old telephone! Telephones like this, reconditioned and functional, have sold on ebay for well over $900. My reserve is far less htan that! I want you to be happy with your purchase, so ask questions before bidding.
