Vintage 1950S Automatic Electric 3 Slot Payphone Works Here is a beautiful vintage 1950's automatic electric company 3 slot payphone as removed from service in a southern illinois railroad station in the late 1960's when it was replaced by a more modern single slot variety. My grandfather had worked for the phone compnay in those days and i had recieved this from him. It has been wired with a modular plug and will easiyl connect to any ordinary home telephone. Old fashion payphones like this used external ringers only that were seperate from the phone so this payphone has no internal ringer and does not ring on incoming calls, but you can conveniently use an existing modern phone for a ringer or have a ringer nistalled if desired.
Comes ready to plug in and make or take calls works great just plug it in and enjoy. Nice, loud and clear voice quality. Know one will ever know that you are talking to them on an antique payphone unless you tell them. It is compelte and has a full coin mechanism dings when coins are dropped, it works with or without coins. It is in excellent cosmetic condition no rust or pitting, this phone has been professionally repainted, looks great and is unrestored except for the newer paint. Has a durable steel braided cord. The only things that are missing are the locks and does not have coin box, nice solid construction made of steel weighs about 30 pounds measures about 18 inchse tall. This phone was designed and built in america to last 75 years or longer. This is not a cheap plastic reproduction vareity that flood the market. Thsi is the real thing! This would make a nice addition to any business, vintage game room or your 1950's style kitchen. Happy bidding no reserve!
